Who are the Auburn Permanent Firefighters?
The Auburn Permanent Firefighters Association, International Association of Firefighters Local 4157, represents the twenty-nine career, professional firefighters that provide fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the town of Auburn Massachusetts and it's surrounding communities.
The Auburn Fire Department is a combination department, meaning that there are both full-time career firefighters, as well as paid-on-call firefighters. The International Association of Firefighters, Local 4157, represents only those members who are permanent, career firefighters.
Our Credentials.
All of Auburn's career firefighters are required to attend the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Recruit Training Program. This intense, twelve week program provides the foundation on which our members build their career in the fire service. This program is only available to full-time firefighters in the commonwealth.
Upon graduating from the Fire Academy, each member has earned the Massachusetts and Federal Firefighter Level I/II Certification. In addition to the recruit training program, each permanent member is also required to be at minimum, an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic.
In an effort to better serve the citizens of our community, the majority of our members have advanced their level of training to include a wide range of skills and certifications. Below are just a few of the certifications held by our ranks.

The Services We Provide.
Auburn's professional firefighters provide a wide range of services to the Town of Auburn and the surrounding communities. First and foremost, members provide fast and efficient response for fire supression, victim rescue and recovery, and medical emergencies. Members of the Local 4157 are on-duty around the clock, and are ready for any emergency that Auburn may have, or to assist another department if needed. Aside from emergency response, Auburn's professional firefighters also provide public safety and medical education, fire prevention, and fire inspection services when needed.
