Auburn Fire purchased its first ambulance in 2003. Previously, E.M.S. was run by Patriot Ambulance, with Auburn firefighters staffing one of Patriot's ambulances during the day. After the addition of several permanent firefighters, Auburn now staffs two paramedic level ambulances around the clock.

Unfortunatley, during the summer of 2005, Auburn's only ambulance was struck by a tractor trailer and was totalled. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. Auburn's ambulance was soon replaced with a new one, seen below.

At the Fall 2005 town meeting, President Eric Otterson, Vice President Jason Ferschke, Secretary Chris Cavan, and Treasurer Scott Henderson, along with the Chief presented the town with a business plan for the department in regards to the department's under-staffing. As a result of their efforts along with PFFM President Bob McCarthy, PFFM District 7 Vice President Ron Armstrong, PFFM Trustee/EMS Officer Mike Aires, and UMass Memorial Paramedic/Auburn Citizen John Lynch; the town of Auburn agreed to hire 6 firefighter/paramedics and purchase another new ambulance. Auburn's second ambulance was placed into service in June of 2006. The department also began operating at the paramedic level in July of 2006.

To meet the ever increasing demand for service within the Town, a third ambulance is currently on order. The addition of another ambulance will allow for two regularly staffed ambulances and the third will serve as a spare/reserve.
